Do you work in the construction, events, real estate, commercial or other sectors and second workers to France?

There are a number of obligations that apply to you, and checks are becoming increasingly common for employers seconding employees to France.

First of all, you will need to make a prior declaration of secondment, giving details of the conditions under which your employee will be seconded (host company, remuneration and working conditions), as well as his or her identity details (surname, first name, etc.).

In the event of an inspection by the French authorities, as well as being compulsory, it will be very useful for you to appoint a legal representative. His or her role is to act as a link between your employee and the authorities, particularly if your employee does not speak French; he or she will also keep available all the documents that may be requested during an inspection.

Apply to the relevant social security body for a certificate of continued coverage under the social security scheme – This document enables the social security cover of a worker seconded to the territory of another State to be extended. It is this certificate («A1» within the European Union) that allows the exemption from affiliation to the social security fund of the host country.
